Nextracker, a leading provider of software and intelligent solar trackers worldwide, announced today that Charles Chuck Boynton has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Boynton’s position will take effect in May 2024, when he leaves his current employer. After Mr. Boynton joins the firm, David Bennett, Nextracker’s current CFO, will stay in this position until he becomes the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO).
In addition to his considerable knowledge in the solar sector, Mr. Boynton has over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting. Dan Shugar, the company’s founder and CEO, will get direct reports from Mr. Boynton, who will oversee Nextracker’s global finance and accounting department. With effect from today, Mr. Boynton, who has served on the Nextracker board since February 2023, will resign from his post.

Chuck is a seasoned leader in the solar and technology industries, and he has been a great board member and advisor to Nextracker. Chuck’s proven ability to lead financial teams will help him strategically improve our skills as we go into the next stage of expansion.

Since June 2021, David Bennett has been Nextracker’s CFO. He will continue to work for the company as its CAO, answering directly to the CFO.
After almost 17 years of effectively serving as Nextracker’s CAO, Dave joined the company from its previous parent company, Flex, stated Dan Shugar, CEO and founder of Nextracker. As we continue to grow internationally, Dave’s demonstrated track record as a CAO will provide invaluable expertise and experience to this post. In his role as CFO, he has been instrumental in guiding us through our IPO, the most recent Flex spin-out, and the formation of an exceptional financial team. Combining Chuck and Dave’s executive skills to give our finance leadership access to world-class capabilities excited him.
After serving as CFO at Logitech International S.A., Mr. Boynton has joined Nextracker. Mr. Boynton was Plantronics, Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Vice President (EVP) before joining Logitech. Additionally, Mr. Boynton has held executive leadership or CFO positions in the renewable energy industry. He has served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of 8point3 General Partner LLC, an owner/operator of solar energy generation projects, as well as EVP and CFO at SunPower Corporation, a global energy company that provides solar power solutions.
