Tobias Menne Joins Greeneye Technology Advisory Board, Driving Agtech Innovation

Tobias Menne has been added to the advisory board of Greeneye Technology, the company that invented AI-enabled precision spraying technology, which has been shown to minimize the need for herbicides in farming and enhance weed control.

Menne brings with him over twenty years of expertise creating and growing agtech businesses and solutions for industry leaders such as Bayer, Bosch BASF Smart Farming (formerly One Smart Spray), and xarvio Digital Farming Solutions. Using his vast experience, he will broaden Greeneye’s network of strategic alliances with machinery, crop-protection, and trait firms. He will also use his skills to scale up the business by entering new markets and developing innovative products and technologies.

During his four years as Bayer’s Global Head of Digital Farming, Menne oversaw the company’s innovation strategy and collaborated with academic institutions, incubators, start-ups, and market leaders to incorporate the most cutting-edge and inventive agtech solutions into the Bayer portfolio. Under his leadership, the business also created xarvio Digital Farming Solutions from the ground up, which at the time had 1.4 million users worldwide and was the most well-liked digital farming product on the market.

Menne joined the Global Executive Leadership Team of BASF’s Agricultural Solutions Division in 2018 and oversaw the company’s acquisition of xarvio Digital Farming Solutions. He was also Non-Executive Chairman of the Bosch BASF Smart Farming joint venture (currently One Smart Spray) from 2019 to 2022.

By utilizing AI and deep machine learning to enable smart, real-time judgments in the field that have been shown to cut chemical use by 87% on average, the company is leading the way in the application of precision spraying technology. The diverse team at Greeneye includes specialists in mechanical engineering, business, agronomy, artificial intelligence, and computer vision. The business completed a $22 million funding round in November 2021, with participation from major players in the agriculture sector, including AGCO and Syngenta, under the direction of global venture capital firm JVP, KDT. It announced the commercial debut of its technology in North America in April 2022, marking a significant turning point in the acceptance of precision spraying by the general public by surmounting prior obstacles related to cost, delivery speed, and efficacy.
