Marla Beck Named CEO of The Beauty Health Company

The Beauty Health Company, the parent company of the well-known Hydrafacial brand, announced today that Marla Beck has been unanimously approved by the board of directors to serve as the company’s permanent president and chief executive officer. In addition to continuing to serve on the company’s board of directors, Ms. Beck has been acting as interim CEO since November 20, 2023.

According to Chairman of the Board Brent Saunders, the Board has been searching extensively for BeautyHealth’s next CEO for the past few months. The Board as a whole feels that Marla is the best candidate to lead BeautyHealth going forward and that she has performed admirably in her role as interim CEO. Marla is a confident leader who prioritizes output. She has a wealth of experience in the cosmetics industry and a proven track record of creating genuine, long-lasting brands that add substantial value. Marla has a thorough awareness of the difficulties and possibilities that BeautyHealth will face in the future, and the board has faith in her steady leadership.

Prior to becoming an Interim Chief Executive Officer in November 2023 and joining the BeautyHealth Board of Directors in June 2022, Ms. Beck made a name for herself as a visionary brand-builder and serial entrepreneur. From the company’s founding until its strategic sale to Macy’s in 2015, she oversaw Bluemercury’s growth and managed it as a stand-alone division of the retailer until 2021. Bluemercury had around 200 physical locations, a strong e-Commerce site, a well-established loyalty program, and private label product brands M-61 Powerful Skincare and Lune+Aster Cosmetics under Ms. Beck’s direction.

Ms. Beck worked at McKinsey & Company as a consultant before starting Bluemercury. Ms. Beck graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts, Harvard Business School with an MBA, and Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government with an MPA.
