Gary Laben has been named chief executive officer of Trax Retail, the data and technology startup that is digitizing the physical retail industry. As CEO of Trax, Laben will guide the data-driven, tech-enabled retail platform into its next stage of expansion, emphasizing the development of its cutting-edge and market-leading products for consumers, retailers, and CPG producers.
Laben stated, Trax has a transformative opportunity to capitalize on new data streams and technology as the pioneer and leader in retail innovation and execution. He was overjoyed to join the group and is looking forward to improving our current offerings and creating new skills for our primary industry and others.
Laben possesses thirty years of worldwide experience in the fields of technology and information services, with a specific emphasis on company transformation, product creation, operational excellence, and strategic planning. He oversaw the successful merger of Research Now and SSI in 2018 to form Dynata, the largest global provider of fully-permissioned first-party data, where he most recently held the position of CEO. Working with 5,500 personnel in more than 40 countries, Laben tripled revenue and quadrupled EBITDA over his six-year tenure. His idea and implementation of the plan to expand the company’s offerings beyond market research into media and advertising produced new revenue streams that currently make up over 25% of Dynata’s total revenue. Laben solidified Dynata’s position as the leading company in the market by means of mergers, strategic acquisitions, and investments. Additionally, Laben ensured that Dynata was offering the greatest goods, customer service, and innovation.
Joel Bar-El, Executive Chairman of Trax, stated that Gary’s expertise is the perfect blend of technology-driven information services experience, demonstrated leadership, and creative market and product development. As we continue to gain ground in the international retail industry, we are investing in a visionary who will take Trax to the next level.
Laben was CEO of KBM Group and worldwide Chief Data Officer at Wunderman before joining Dynata. Under his leadership, the company grew operating profit by 15 times and revenue by 10 times, positioning it as a leader in the worldwide marketing services sector. In addition, he has had executive roles at TRW, Dun & Bradstreet, and Experian.
