Ryan O’Connor has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Global X ETFs, a New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with effect from April 8, 2024.

O’Connor will be in charge of spearheading the company’s strategy, revitalizing its product line, and guiding Global X’s bright, motivated workforce into a new, growth-oriented phase of the business.

In addition to establishing its expertise in thematic investing and alternative income strategies, Global X has expanded its diverse product line-up to feature over 80 ETFs across several families, including Thematic Growth, Income, Risk Management, International Access, and Commodities, since its launch in 2009 and its subsequent acquisition by Mirae Asset in 2018. Global X has been a rising star in the ETF business for the past few years. As of February 2024, it had USD 43 billion in assets under management (AUM), which is more than four times the amount it had in 2018.I

The founder and chief strategy officer of Mirae Asset Financial Group, Hyeon-Joo Park, stated: “Mirae Asset still sees Global X as a trailblazer and an essential component of its expansion and prosperity. Before coming to Global X, O’Connor was Global Head of ETF Product at Goldman Sachs Asset managerial, where he oversaw all facets of the company’s ETF product platform and had direct managerial authority over a group of seasoned product specialists. Goldman Sachs Asset Management first employed him to expand its US fund strategist model portfolio business.

Previously, O’Connor worked for more than ten years at State Street Global Advisors, where he oversaw a broad group of capital markets and product teams for the SPDR ETF line.

O’Connor graduated with a BA in psychology and economics from Bates College and an MBA from Cornell University’s S.C. Johnson College of Business. In addition to being an American Red Cross volunteer, he has taken part in a number of training and professional development courses, such as Money Management Institute’s Executive IQ.
