Leading Irish homebuilder Cairn Homes plc today announced the appointment of Richard Ball as Chief Financial Officer, replacing Shane Doherty, after a thorough hiring process

In October 2023, Shane Doherty stated that he would be leaving his position as CFO, although he committed to staying on the board to help with the transition to his replacement. After an orderly transfer of duties to the new CFO, Shane will depart the company in the third quarter of this year and will not run for reelection at the next AGM.

With more than eighteen years of experience in the Irish real estate industry, Richard Ball possesses a wealth of knowledge in the areas of finance, capital markets, sustainability, and investment.

He comes from Urbeo Residential, one of the top residential real estate companies in Ireland, where he held the position of Partner and was in charge of all financial and investment-related operations. Before that, he spent five years following the company’s first public offering (IPO) as Chief Investment Officer at the Irish commercial real estate firm Hibernia REIT plc. Prior to this, Richard worked in a variety of corporate finance positions, most notably at the Clancourt Group, a commercial real estate corporation.

Richard has a Master of Accountancy from University College Dublin and a B.Sc. from Trinity College Dublin. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Cairn Chairman John Reynolds stated: We are thrilled to be selecting Richard Ball as our next CFO. He is a highly qualified candidate. Given the Company’s momentum and trajectory, his extensive experience in the residential and other property industries in roles encompassing finance, capital markets, and sustainability will be invaluable as we continue to focus on maximizing shareholder value. We are excited to have him here in April.

Additionally, we would like to thank Shane Doherty for his dedication to continuing in his job as part of a smooth transition to his successor and to acknowledge once more his extremely substantial contribution to Cairn.
