Eric M. Hambly has been named President and Chief Operating Officer by the Board of Directors, and E. Ted Botner has been named Executive Vice President. Roger W. Jenkins, the CEO, will continue to receive reports from Mr. Hambly and Mr. Botner.
Throughout his eighteen-year tenure with Murphy, Mr. Hambly has been instrumental in the company’s worldwide exploration and production endeavors. He has attained positions with escalating responsibility, mostly centered on onshore operations in the United States and Canada, as well as offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico and Malaysia. In 2020, he was elevated to the rank of Executive Vice President, Operations.
Mr. Hambly graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering. He also completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
After starting his career with Murphy in 2001 as an attorney, Mr. Botner has worked in the US and Malaysia in a number of roles with progressively more responsibility, leading to his current position as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary in 2020. Mr. Botner will continue to serve as the company secretary and general counsel.
Mr. Botner graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in arts and business administration, Southern Methodist University with a master’s degree in business administration, and the University of Arkansas with a law degree.
He’s happy for Eric’s appointment and is forward to collaborate with him in his new position. We are all still dedicated to the company’s Delver, Execute, Explore, Return strategy.
