With effect from June 3, 2024, Robert (Rob) Smith has been appointed to the board of Velocity Composites plc, the premier provider of advanced composite material kits to the aerospace industry. Rob will serve as the company’s secretary and group chief financial officer (CFO).
Rob is a certified management accountant with extensive experience holding executive positions in several technology firms listed on the AIM. He has played a key role in driving growth initiatives and enhancing operational effectiveness. Rob has demonstrated success in advanced manufacturing as a CFO and CEO, having led global commercial initiatives and implemented production systems. Rob most recently held the position of Group CFO at Biome Technologies plc. Before that, from 2014 to 2020, he held the positions of CEO and CFO at Filtronic plc, an electronics company that designed and produced cutting-edge filters, antennas, and transceivers.
From 2010 to 2014, Rob served as the Finance Director of APC Technology Group, a specialized distributor and manufacturer of semiconductor products and electronic components with an emphasis on the green technology industries.
Since August 2023, Andrew Hebb has served as the company’s interim chief financial officer. The board would like to thank him for his substantial work.
The chairman, Andy Beaden, said that they are happy to have Rob join the board as their new permanent CFO. Similar to Andrew Hebb, Rob possesses extensive expertise as a seasoned CFO of companies listed on the AIM. Rob has a wealth of experience in international finance and innovative manufacturing, particularly in North America and Continental Europe. As we continue to expand internationally, this allows him to assist our growth strategy and oversee the development of our financial unit.
