DCS Corporation appoints Jim Belcher as VP

Jim Belcher has been appointed as DCS Corporation’s new Vice President of Ground Vehicle Systems, and the company is happy to announce this.

When Jim joined Infoscitex Corporation (IST) in 2004, he was the group leader of the Advanced Materials Group, responsible for creating solutions such as radiation-hardened satellite solar arrays, smart coatings for turbine compressors, and stabilized solid rocket fuel. After DCS acquired IST, he oversaw the Special Programs Branch, where he developed ground vehicle armor systems, e-textiles, tethered drone power systems, and active thermal control through systems engineering employing cutting-edge materials and electronics.

Jim has been in charge of DCS’s Systems Engineering Department since 2018. The department supports the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) at the Detroit Arsenal with electrical and systems engineering. Jim oversaw notable expansion in the fields of veterinary electronics, high-voltage power systems, manufacturing support, embedded robotic systems, and safety systems architecture while holding this role.

According to Bill Protzman, President and Chief Operating Officer of DCS, “the Ground Vehicle Systems team is delighted to have such a strong leader in this crucial position for our company and customers.” DCS and our warfighters greatly benefit from Jim’s passion and concentration in creating diverse teams and guiding them to overcome the most challenging technical difficulties confronting our U.S. Armed Forces.

Jim’s new position will involve him continuing to form teams to push forward open systems architectures for military ground vehicles, as well as electrification, autonomous systems, safety, fabrication and prototyping, lifecycle cost reduction, and field service support. For the recently won $2.1B Technical Engineering Services (TES II) contract with GVSC, he will also function as DCS’s contract Program Manager.

Jim is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. With 22 years of experience, he has developed technologies, managed engineering teams, and overseen projects in support of the US Army, US Navy, and US Air Force. the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and Special Operations Command (SOCOM) of the United States government.
