Adam Wilson will relinquish his position as CEO of BC Operations upon the appointment of Chris Walker, although he will continue to serve as CEO of the Group and a member of the Board until Chris assumes the role of CEO of the Group. After then, Adam will take on a role as an Executive Director of the Group for an additional, yet to be determined, amount of time. Additionally, Adam will work for BC Operations until October 31, 2024, to help with the smooth transition of Chris’s responsibilities.
Chris is a seasoned professional with a wealth of international mining industry leadership experience. Chris worked in a range of senior financial, strategy, and marketing positions with Peabody Energy, Inc. for 14 years. Notably, Chris headed Peabody’s international sales and trading organization while stationed in Australia and served as the company’s head of strategy. Chris oversaw Allegiance Coal Limited’s U.S. assets as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer before joining Bens Creek. Chris started out in accounting for KPMG and Arthur Andersen. Chris has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Clemson University and graduate business degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
As of right now, the Bens Creek Board is still made up of the following members: Mark Cooper, a non-executive director, David Harris, a non-executive independent chairman, Adam Wilson, the chief executive officer, and Rajesh Johar, a non-executive director.
The CEO of Bens Creek, Adam Wilson, stated that he has had the utmost joy in being a part of the company from the beginning. He expressed confidence in Chris’s ability to take the company to new heights and said he looked forward to officially welcoming him into the company now that the business has been fully remedied and the startup issues have been resolved.
As a major shareholder, Chris looks forward to leading Bens Creek into the future. He has all the necessary skills to create Bens Creek as a fully integrated HvB met coal producer for both the domestic and international markets.
