Susan M. Lewis has been appointed as a director of Stepan Company, beginning February 15, 2024, the company said today.

Ms. Lewis worked for Dow Inc., a materials science corporation, for more than thirty years. After Corteva, Inc. separated from DowDuPont Inc., she joined the management team of this international agriculture company. From 2018 until her retirement in 2021, Ms. Lewis was Corteva’s Senior Vice President of Global Operations. She then worked as a business and executive consultant until 2023. Ms. Lewis oversaw organizational restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and transformation initiatives in her senior management positions. She also had responsibility for operations, sustainability, and risk management.

F. Quinn Stepan, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Stepan, stated that Susan “brings to our Board of Directors extensive supply chain experience in the chemical manufacturing industry and an understanding of the agricultural industry, a key market for Stepan.” They are happy to have Susan’s experience on the Board and anticipate her valuable contributions to our business.

The Stepan Company is a significant producer of intermediate and speciality chemicals used in numerous industries. Leading merchant producer of surfactants, Stepan’s chemicals are essential components of industrial and consumer cleaning and disinfection products, as well as agricultural and oilfield solutions. In addition, the company is a major supplier of polyurethane polyols to the CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, and Elastomers) and thermal insulation markets.

With its main office in Northbrook, Illinois, Stepan operates a network of contemporary production sites around Europe, Asia, South and North America, and South Africa.
