Tom Hickey appointed as the financial director of Kenmare Resources

Tom Hickey has been appointed as the financial director of Kenmare Resources plc, one of the top producers of zircon and titanium minerals worldwide, effective September 26, 2022.
On the same date, Tom will be added to the Board as an executive director.

Tom was chosen after a thorough search process that was overseen by the Nomination Committee and an impartial executive search company.

Tom has worked as the executive director of several public firms for 15 years, and he brings to Kenmare a wealth of financial and natural resource expertise.
From 2000 to 2008, Tullow Oil plc (“Tullow”), an oil and gas firm with a concentration on Africa and South America, employed me as its Chief Financial Officer for eight years.
He created and implemented the financial plan that allowed Tullow to evolve from a micro-cap firm to a FTSE 100 company with a $15 billion market valuation during this time.
He had a key role in the accomplishment of significant acquisitions, debt and equity fundings, and the capital allocation of an annual budget of more than $700 million.

Between 2010 and 2016, Tom also served in top financial positions with Petroceltic International plc (“Petroceltic”), an oil and gas exploration business, most recently as Chief Financial Officer.

Tom has extensive board experience. He presently holds the position of Independent Non-Executive Director at United Oil & Gas plc (UOG), and he previously held the position at Petroneft Resources plc (Petroneft).
Tom is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma in Professional Accounting, both from University College Dublin.


Tony McCluskey, who declared his desire to leave the Company earlier this year.
On September 26, 2022, Tony will retire from the Board and his position as Financial Director. Nevertheless, he will remain on the Company’s payroll for a while to help Tom take over his responsibilities and to help the Company in other ways.

Tom now serves as the Audit Committee’s Chair and as a Non-Executive Director of UOG.
Oil and gas business UOG is listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market.
The chairman of UOG is Graham Martin, a non-executive director of Kenmare.
On September 23, 2022, Tom will retire from the UOG Board in order to start working for Kenmare.

Tom previously served as a Non-Executive Director of Petroneft, an oil and gas exploration and production business that is quoted on the Euronext Growth Market of Euronext Dublin and the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
In December 2020, he gave his notice as a Petroneft director.

He also previously served as a director for Petroceltic, an Irish-incorporated oil and gas exploration company that was traded on the Enterprise Securities Market of the Irish Stock Exchange and the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
