Kathryn King Sudol has been appointed as General Counsel of KKR

Kathryn King Sudol has been appointed as General Counsel of KKR, a top international investment firm, it was revealed today. She will take over for David Sorkin, who has been KKR’s Chief Legal Officer since he assumed the position of General Counsel in 2007. The two appointments are valid as of September 6, 2022.


Ms. Sudol will take over as chief legal officer at the end of the first quarter of 2023, and Mr. Sorkin will join KKR as an advisory partner from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP (“STB”), where she most recently served as global co-head of mergers and acquisitions,


She is one of the top corporate, M&A, and private equity lawyers in the world and has advised corporate and private equity clients in a number of challenging and high-profile transactions across a wide range of industries.


Ms. Sudol worked at STB for 24 years, serving in a variety of leadership capacities, including as a longtime member of the firm’s Executive Committee and its head of M&A practise in Asia from 2010 to 2018.
