Harry Sideris was elevated to the position of president of Duke Energy with effect from April 1st, according to a list of executive leadership appointments released by Duke Energy today. Lynn Good remains Duke Energy’s chair and CEO, as she continues to manage one of the nation’s greatest clean energy transitions through a strategy focused to dependability and affordability for its consumers.
Additionally, the business declared that, as of June 30, Steve Young will no longer serve as executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Until then, he will stay on staff at Duke Energy as a senior advisor.
In his new role as president, Sideris, a 28-year employee of the corporation, will oversee all operations and customer service for Duke Energy’s gas and electric services. He will still be answering to Good.
The most recent position Sideris held was EVP of services, solutions, and customer experience. In that capacity, Sideris oversaw operations related to transmission, distribution, and customers as well as economic growth. Sideris has held positions as senior vice president of environmental, health, and safety, chief distribution officer, and president of the company’s Florida-regulated utility in the past.
Good made the following statement in response to Sideris’s nomination for president: “Harry has led virtually every aspect of Duke Energy’s operations in addition to having substantial regulatory and stakeholder experience.” Because of this, he is especially qualified to oversee our utilities and operations during this revolutionary time as we continue to fulfill the rising need for reasonably priced, dependable, and increasingly sustainable energy. When he announced Young’s retirement, Good honored his illustrious forty-year career, which included nine years as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Duke Energy prior to assuming his current role in September 2022. In this role, Good oversaw the company’s commercial renewables division, natural gas business unit, generation and transmission strategy, and information technology.
Young served as Duke Energy’s SVP, controller, and chief accounting officer before to taking on the role of CFO. Young worked for Duke Energy his whole career. After graduating from college in 1980, he started out as a financial assistant at Duke Power and worked his way up to assume senior positions in finance, the controller’s office, rates and regulatory affairs, and system planning and operations.
