Michael G. Rippey plans to step down as the company’s chief executive officer and board member on May 15, 2024, according to a statement released by SunCoke Energy, Inc. today.

Chairman Arthur F. Anton said, We thank Mike for his outstanding service and substantial contributions to SunCoke. speaking on behalf of the Board. He considerably reinforced and reorganized the company during his time there, lowering SunCoke’s risk profile. Mike has been and continues to be a valuable member of our team. SunCoke’s record earnings and profitability, along with its culture of safety and honesty, are testaments to his enormous accomplishments.

Mr. Anton went on, After a thoughtful and well-executed succession planning process, the Board is pleased to announce Katherine’s promotion to Chief Executive Officer. With over ten years of executive experience at SunCoke, Katherine offers the Board invaluable knowledge in the areas of operations, commercial, strategic, legal, and environmental health and safety. She is an effective leader with a keen focus on execution. She is incredibly energetic and possesses the finest integrity.

Mr. Rippey said, He was extremely proud of all that our team has achieved, in reference to his time at SunCoke. We have produced substantial gains for our investors. All of our employees’ hard work, devotion, and creativity have contributed to our successes. We are blessed as a Company to have Katherine as my successor. He, along with the entire SunCoke team, is extremely confident in Katherine’s capacity to support our company and steer it toward future success.

Speaking about her recent appointment, Ms. Gates stated that she was appreciative of the board’s faith in her and that it was an honor for her to lead SunCoke as CEO, collaborating with our hardworking staff to create value for both the company and its investors.
