RM hires industry expert Chris Rothwell as its new Group Strategy and Customer Director

RM, a leading supplier of technology and resources to the education sector, has hired Chris Rothwell as its new Group Strategy and Customer Director. The introduction of this new executive job is one of the important components that RM believes will enable it to chart a clear path to long-term sustainable growth that will benefit all stakeholders, particularly its education clients. Chris will be instrumental in keeping RM at the forefront of the industry as the company improves its go-to-market strategy and client propositions in the face of a more competitive marketplace and a rapidly changing market.

Chris has worked in the technology field for for 20 years, and prior to joining RM, he was Director of Education for Microsoft, a major technology corporation. He was in charge of providing assistance to over 30,000 Microsoft Education customers in the United Kingdom, including schools, colleges, universities, museums, and libraries. He is a school governor, a trustee of an edtech charity, and the father of two small children, so he has a personal stake in helping the industry enhance educational outcomes for everybody.

Chris led Microsoft’s education industry team in the United Kingdom, aiming to realise the mission of empowering every student and educator to achieve more by assisting them in maximising the technology available to improve learning outcomes. This includes assisting customers in transforming their organisations with technology, enabling richer teaching and learning, and supporting the development of 21st Century capabilities for students and employees.

Chris has extensive expertise working with clients and partners at all levels of education.
He worked in product, channel, marketing, and sales at Microsoft throughout his time there.
His first job in education was overseeing the “Live@edu” product in the United Kingdom, where he collaborated with RM as part of the sector’s early migration to cloud services.
The new function at RM will first focus on utilising the work already being done by the business divisions while also cooperating more effectively in presenting the value that an RM client receives from being a member of the larger organisation. This will aim to set the brand apart by using RM’s unique breadth of knowledge, as well as its strong customer reach and pedigree.

RM plc is a £211 million turnover British company with around 1,990 workers worldwide.
RM was founded in 1973 to provide educational institutions, test organisations, and foreign governments with market-leading products and services that improve, simplify, and promote education and learning.
