Geoff Russell has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director (NED) and Chair of the UK Bank Board Audit Committee (BAC) by The Bank of London, the next-generation technology corporation and the world’s first purpose-built global clearing, agency, and transaction bank, effective immediately.
Russell has over ten years of Chair and NED experience, with high-profile responsibilities in areas such as banking, Fintech, and Edtech. He has served on many committees, including audit, risk, credit, investments, and remuneration/nominations, as a senior member.
Russell is a licenced accountant with over 25 years of experience at KPMG, including 13 years as a Partner.
During this period, he was the Practice Lead for emerging markets and handled industries such as global banking and public sector. He was seconded from KPMG to HM Treasury as Director of Financial Management in 2006, and shortly after retiring from KPMG, the United Kingdom (UK) Government nominated him to run the Learning and Skills Council, the country’s largest non-departmental public organisation at the time.
The Bank of London is a cutting-edge technological firm and the first purpose-built global clearing, agency, and transaction bank in the world. Launched in November 2021 as the United Kingdom’s sixth primary clearing bank, and only the second in 250 years. It is the first bank in history to achieve ‘unicorn’ status upon its first public offering, with a valuation of $1.1 billion.
